Mr. Richard Hardy

Richard A. Hardy, 85, passed away on December 10, 2009 at the Kansas City Hospice House. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 19 from 3-4 pm at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210. Funeral services will start at 4:00 pm.
Richard was born on February 14, 1924 in Kansas City, Missouri. Richard was an accomplished leader for his community. In high school he joined the ROTC's and then enlisted in the US Army and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. Later years he served his community as a Boy Scout Leader, his focus was to develop character in young men. Richard served as a lay leader in his church lending his time to serve others in many different capacities. Richard was also an accomplished father and uncle leading his family in loving kindness, gentleness, and patience.
He was preceded in death by his sister Jennette Valentine of Clay Center, Kansas. Richard is survived by his three sons; Earl R. Hardy of Ballwin, MO, Richard A. Hardy of Kansas City, MO, and Brett Hardy of Overland Park, KS, four grandchildren; Nick, Eric, MaryKate & Scott Hardy of Chesterfield, MO, Ex-wife Idabelle A. Hardy of Overland Park, KS, two nephews Ned Valentine of Clay Center, KS and Art Valentine of New York, two nieces; Vikki Beckner of Lenexa, KS and Martha Dorsett of Lawrence, KS, and cousin Eleanor Nelson of Overland Park, KS.
