Richard Harris, 82, of Overland Park, Kan., passed away quietly March 4, 2008, with his family at his side.
Cremation services will be conducted by D.W. Newcomer's Sons. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 7, at their Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 63 years, Margaret; their three sons, Craig, Randy and wife Sandy, Rusty and wife Kathy; granddaughter and daughter of Randy, Megan and husband Josh Bryant, and brother Robert and wife Mary.
He was born June 16, 1925, in Wichita, Kan., and is preceded in death by his parents Meyer and Ethel Harris of Wichita. He spent most of his career as a very successful sales executive for the Coleman Company, but he was also passionate about all things mechanical, electrical, and anything with a challenge. If something needed to be designed, built, or fixed, Richard Harris was your man. A member of the Baptist Church, he enjoyed fishing, boating, water and snow skiing, and playing golf. He was a devoted family man and also enjoyed spending time with friends. In recent years, he and Margaret also enjoyed spending time with their friends in the Johnson County and Kansas City Organ Clubs.
