Richard Elmer Hornung

Richard Elmer Hornung, loving husband and father, passed away October 8, 2023, in Monett, MO at the age of 90.

Richard was born on June 24, 1933, in Buffalo, NY to Elmer and Elsie (Mathews) Hornung.  He grew up in Eden, NY and was a proud graduate of Eden High School.  After graduation, he attended Rochester Institute of Technology, eventually moving with a job to the Kansas City area in 1967.  For 30 years he was the proud owner of the Joseph Manufacturing Company based in Johnson County, KS.

Richard enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, camping, and traveling with his wife, Sue Ann, throughout the U.S. and Canada.  He was a member of the Optimist Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Sue Ann.  He is survived by two sons, Bart Richard Hornung (wife, Helene) and Shawn Joseph Hornung.

Visitation will be Friday, October 13^th from 1-2pm at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel, followed by services at 2pm.  Burial will take place at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Optimist Club.
