Richard “Dick” Hucke, 86, passed away October 29, 2015. He was born November 12, 1928 in Kansas City Missouri. Born and raised in Kansas City, he was an avid reader and a member of the Boy Scouts, where he obtained the rank of Eagle Scout. Dick obtained his B.S. in Business at Baker University where he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He met and later married the love of his life, Barbara Nusser, while at Baker. They later married and enjoyed 30 wonderful years together. Dick followed in the footsteps of his mother and went into the insurance industry where he was an underwriting manager and later an agent. He was a member of the Village Presbyterian Church, a past member of the Johnson County Jaycees as well as a KU Men’s basketball season ticket holder. He enjoyed traveling and sightseeing, taking many trips to Europe. He particularly enjoyed his annual trip to Epworth Heights in Ludington Michigan while his children were growing up.
Dick is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara and his sister, Carolyn Gray. Survivors include daughters, Martha Hucke and Janet (David) Wavering and his beloved beagle, Daisy.
Visitation will be from 3-5 pm, Sunday, Nov. 1st at Johnson County Funeral Chapel. Memorial service will be 3 pm Tuesday, Nov. 3rd at Village Presbyterian Church, 6641 Mission Rd, Prairie Village, KS 66208. Donations may be made in Dick’s memory to the Midwest Beagle Rescue or the Humane Society.
