Richard Thomas Jones (Tom), age 83, Overland Park, KS, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at Delmar Gardens.
A private family celebration of his life will be held. Interment in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. The family requests no flowers, your thoughts and prayers are enough. Contributions in Tom's name may be made to Kansas City Hospice, 10100 W. 87th St., Lenexa, KS 66212.
Tom was born January 25, 1926, in Logansport, Indiana to Richard and Nelle Jones. He was married to Jean Jones for 57 years before her departure to heaven in 2007. Tom was a devoted husband and father. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. Tom worked in automotive parts sales for both the Champion Oil and Goodyear Tire Companies for many years. He was a clown with the Shriners and he was an active member of Overland Park Christian Church for many years until his health declined.
Survivors include three children, Susan J. Wahe of St. Louis, Robert T. Jones of Leawood and Richard P. Jones of Platte City; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
