Richard Lee Kobe, 54, Shawnee, Kansas passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2008. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 13, 2008 at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park. A visitation will begin an hour prior to the service.
Richard was a former volunteer firefighter in Shawnee. He was involved in many BBQ competitions and events. He also was an avid golfer, fisherman, animal lover, and sports fan. His greatest enjoyment was his new grandson, Austin and playing family chef.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Kobe; granddaughter, Makayla Murray; and niece, Nikki Supica. Survivors include his wife and best friend for nearly 30 years, Deborah Kobe; daughter Lisa (Andrew) Murray; grandson, Austin Murray; father, Nick Kobe; sister, Nancy (Mike) Supica; brother, Nick (Debbie) Kobe; favorite in-laws; other family members; and good friends who loved him and will miss his larger than life presence. He was our spark, a joy to be around, and our guide to adventure.
