Richard Neustadt

Richard Brett Neustadt, 80, died in his home on Tuesday, December 23, 2008.

Visitation will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, December 26, 2008 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kansas, with a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Burial will take place immediately following the funeral services at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park, Kansas.

Dick was born April 17, 1928 in Kansas City, Missouri to Irene and Bert Neustadt. Dick graduated from Clearwater High School in Clearwater, Florida. He served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps. Dick entered the Marines at Camp Pendleton, California followed by a Tour of Duty in Korea. After his discharge from the military, he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as the Assistant Postmaster of Clearwater Beach, Florida. Dick moved back to Kansas City where he was employed by the Burstein-Applebee Company for 31 years. He later went to work for Electronics Supply, Company, Inc. in Kansas City and had been there for 28 years. Dick enjoyed traveling and inventing clever puns. He most recently attended his 60th high school reunion in Clearwater, Florida where he still maintained many friends. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church.

Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy and his son, Michael. Dick is survived by his sister, Jane Coolbaugh, his grandson, Shawn Neustadt, his sister-in-law Mary Lou Neustadt, his niece Terry Neustadt, his nephews Bill Neustadt and James Neustadt, Jr., and other family members.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
