Richard Stuart Nilsson, 89, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away at his home on Saturday, November 10, 2007.

Dick was born on October 11, 1918 in Omaha, Nebraska. He was the son of Agnes and Dr. Gustav Nilsson. He grew up in Omaha and Bloomingfield, Nebraska. He married Jane Walrath in 1939. Dick started his business career as a test car driver for Nash Motors. Dick rose through the corporate ranks first at American Motors and later at the Chrysler Corporation. He was an executive in charge of the parts depots. Dick's passion was golf; a proud moment was when he got a hole in one with his grandson, Christopher. Dick and Jane were married for 56 years at the time of her death in July 1995. He was so proud of his three children: Richard, Jr., Nancy, and Kristine. He was G-pa to his seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren. In 1997 Dick married Annette Leathers, and they had ten and a half happy years together.

Dick preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law Dr. Don and Janet Nilsson, sister and brother-in-law Jean and David Borchman, daughter Kristine, son-in-law Don Smitka, granddaughter Ashley Branson, and Jim Turner. Dick is survived by his wife Annette, son Richard (Bonita), daughter Nancy (Don), and stepson Brett Leathers (Ann). Grandchildren: Carole Branson, Laurie Brandel (John), Christopher Smitka (Sharon), Jennifer Cha ( Jae), Lisa R. Huckstorf (Richard), Michael Nilsson (Dr. Elizabeth D. Nilsson), Lindsey Lucas (Allen). Step Grandchildren: Clayton Leathers, Kyle Leathers. Great Grandchildren: Jennifer Bunzel, Abigail Nilsson, Anneka Nilsson, Bethanie Branson, Kimberly Hayes, Natalie Hayes, Brett Shivers, Courtney Brandel, Alysa Brandel, Stephanie Smitka, Samantha Smitka, Aidan Cha, Alexander Cha. Great, Great Grandchildren: Tyler Kurowski, Ashley Kurowski.

Services will be at The Village Presbyterian Church at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, November 15th, in the chapel. Memorial gifts to K.C. Hospice and Palliative Care.
