Dr. Richard Porch

DR. RICHARD C. PORCH, 83, of Overland Park, KS passed away Friday, January 11, 2013 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
He was born November 7, 1929 in Tulsa, Oklahoma the son of Richard and Grace (Fisher) Porch.
He attended the University of Tulsa where he earned a Bachelor's degree and was a member of Lamda Chi Fraternity. He attended School of Dentistry at the University of Missouri of Kansas City.
Richard served our country in the United States Air Force stationed in Germany as a Dentist.
After his military service, he returned to UMKC earning an Oral Surgery degree.
He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Clayton on January 25, 1958. They shared over 55 years of marriage.
He built a successful Dental Practice and it still resides today. He was a Charter Staff Member of Shawnee Mission Medical Center, where he practiced until his retirement. He was a founding member of the Kansas City Native American Ministry and long-time member of the Indian Council of Many Nations.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann; two daughters, Jane Truitt and her husband Jeff; Mary Bessey and her husband Jay; five grandchildren, Damon, Chris, Nick, Jami and Christine.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2013 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210. Interment will follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the University of Tulsa, 800 South Tucker Drive, Tulsa, OK 74104.
