Richard Joseph Knapp, 49 of Overland Park, KS, went home to be with the Lord on January 23, 2008.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, January 29, at Overland Park First Assembly of God, 7700 W. 75th Street, Overland Park, KS with burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf, directly following services. Visitation will be on January 28, from 6-8 pm at Overland Park First Assembly of God. In Lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Leukemia Society or the National Kidney Foundation.
Rick was born on March 9, 1958 in Kansas City, Missouri to John and Dorothy Knapp. The family later moved to Bucyrus, KS, where he attended High school in Louisburg. He then met and married his girlfriend, Sandra. They had 2 children. Rick loved computers and attended business school to learn more about them. He was also very musically inclined, as he could play the drums, guitar, and also piano. He loved working with his hands, just like his father. He also enjoyed taking trips to the mountains, as he was fascinated by the beauty that God created in them.
Rick was preceded in death by his loving mother, Dorothy Knapp. He is survived by his wife Sandra; his daughter Wendy; and his son Michael, all of the home; his father John Sr.; brothers John and Bill; sister Linda Forbes; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all.
