Richard P. (Dick) Humes passed to his eternal heavenly home on March 3, 2020.
Dick was born March 21, 1922 to Harry H. Humes and Agnes Irene nee Howison in Glen Elder, Kansas. Dick grew up in Salina, Kansas, graduated from Salina High School in 1939. He attended Kansas State University both before and after World War II where he served in the U.S. Navy. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1948 with a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and Business Administration. He was immediately employed by Westinghouse Electric Company. Dick’s career with Westinghouse covered forty four years in several locations and in various management assignments. After leaving Westinghouse, Dick worked in Honolulu for Maydwell and Hartzell, a San Francisco based company. Dick was a lifetime member of the International Institute of Electrical Engineering (IEEE) and a registered (retired) professional engineer.
Dick loved the Lord and his family. His mantra was, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." Dick was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church (LCMS) in Mission, Kansas.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Audrey Jean (nee) Mueller, four beautiful children; Rebecca Sue Crossan (Rob); Richard P. Humes, Jr. (Lisa); DeAnn Colleen Dotson (Dale); Janet Lynn Thomas (Michael); nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
