Richard T. Marchand

Richard T. Marchand departed this world to join his parents in God’s Heaven Sunday morning, July 18, at 11:05 a.m. after a lengthy illness.  He was born in Great Bend, Kansas December 5, 1946 and grew up there.

After graduating high school he attended Wichita State University, earning both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Choral Music.  He also earned a Doctorate at Kansas University.  He was a gifted musician and possessed a beautiful tenor voice.

Richard spent a good portion of his adult life instilling a love of music to several generations of junior high students.

He will be missed for his music, his creativity, and his boundless sense of humor. Those left behind are richer for knowing him.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on December 10, 2021 at Cure of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Rd, Leawood, KS 66206.  Face Masks will  be required for all who attend.
