Robert Noegel Birkenmeier, 80, of Prairie Village, Kansas, died on November 18, 2007,
at home.
Bob was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on September 20, 1927, to Edward H. and Isabel Noegel Birkenmeier. He attended Susan R. Buder Elementary School and Southwest High School in St. Louis. Bob served in the Army of the United States in Italy following World War II. He attended the University of Missouri in Columbia where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, and graduated in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Bob worked for The Standard Register Company for 38 years, retiring in 1990, and then volunteered at The Village Presbyterian Church?s Food Pantry and the Plaza Visitors Center.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Edward H. Birkenmeier, Jr. Bob is survived by Elizabeth, his wife of 56 years; a daughter, Janice Ratzel, son-in-law John Ratzel, granddaughters Jenny and Sarah Ratzel of Elm Grove, Wisconsin; a son William Robert Birkenmeier of Richmond, Kentucky and a son Benton Birkenmeier, daughter-in-law Monica (Mills) Birkenmeier and granddaughters Rachel, Catherine and Elizabeth Birkenmeier of Overland Park, Kansas.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 20th, at Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, from 6:30 p.m. ? 8:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 21st, at The Village Presbyterian Church, 6641 Mission Road, with a reception to follow in Fellowship Hall.
