Robert Gliesman

Robert “Bob" Gliesman,  76, of Overland Park , Kansas, passed away March 11, 2015 at Kansas City  Hospice House. Bob was born October 17, 1938, in Queens, New York. He enlisted in the Army and served his country until his honorable discharge in 1961. Following his military service Bob returned to Queens where he met and married Judy Broughton.  Bob began his career in the beverage industry in New York City before moving to Overland Park in 1972 with his young family. While living in Overland Park, Bob made many lifelong friends through his involvement in the Lenexa Lions Club, and enjoyed the friendship of many wonderful neighbors. Bob was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and recently became a great grandfather. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Judith Gliesman, and his parents August and Helen Gliesman.  He is survived by his three sisters, Dorothy Bortell, Marguerite McKenna and Patricia Sly, and his two sons, Rob and Shawn Gliesman. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 16 at St. Michael the Archangel, 14251 Nall Ave., Leawood, KS. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, KS.  Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm. on Sunday, March 15, at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, Kansas. Rosary will be held at 5:45 pm. Donations may be made on Bob's behalf to Catholic Charities.
