Robert L. Graf, 94, of Overland Park, Kansas died on November 4, 2018 at his new home in Yukon, Oklahoma.
Mr. Graf was born October 2, 1924 to Irma and Louis Graf in Evansville, Indiana. He was happily married and devoted to his wife, Dorothy Cochran Graf, for over 70 years. Bob, as he was known, graduated from University of Evansville with a degree in Business. Bob served in World War II in the European theatre with the 409th Infantry of the Army’s 103 Division. He was decorated with a Purple Heart, Oak Leaf Cluster, a Bronze Star and the prestigious Ordre National De La Legion D’Honneur from France.
Bob started his career as a Sales Representative for Arkansas Louisiana Gas Company after running several family businesses including Ohio Valley Seed Company in Evansville. Bob continued to work in the natural and propane gas related industry until he was 85.
Bob was an active, dedicated, and well-loved member of Overland Park Church of Christ, where he was a member for 43 years.
Bob is survived by his wife, Dorothy Graf, his sons, Robert L. Graf, Jr. of Nashville, Tennessee, Thomas C. Graf (Yvonne) of Overland Park, Kansas and his daughter, Julie Graf of Yukon, Oklahoma. He has five Grandchildren, Libby Boomer, Robert L. Graf, III (Trey), Cathryn Graf Schubert (Pierce), Rachel Hughes, and Jennalee Hunter (Trey) and three Great Grandchildren, Jake Boomer, Emerin Boomer, and Julianne Hunter.
Bob was preceded in death by his son, Commander James A. Graf, Medical Corp, U.S. Navy; his brother, Alan B Graf and his daughter-in-law, Cathy C Graf.
He was beloved and devoted to his family. Bob was an extraordinary husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Overland Park Church of Christ in Bob’s memory.
