Robert G. Griffith, age 82, Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at K.C. Hospice House.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 17th at D. W. Newcomer?s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Robert?s name be made to the University of Kansas Endowment Association or to Kansas City Hospice House.
Mr. Griffith was born July 28, 1925 to Cecil and Myrtle Griffith in Kansas City, Kansas. He was a graduate of Argentine High School and the University of Kansas. He married Marjorie Lee Laird on September 5, 1948. He was an avid golfer and relished the time spent playing golf with his wife and friends. He and Marjorie spent many happy years traveling and playing golf throughout the country. He worked for Cities Service Oil Company and Gulf Oil Corporation as a field engineer and real estate manager. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Asiatic Pacific.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by Marjorie, his wife of 59 years; son Gary, and his wife Michele of Prairie Village, KS; son Mark, and his wife Mary of DeSoto, KS; and two granddaughters, Sara and Katie.
