Robert Lee Hamann, 86, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016. He was born September 1, 1929 in Gary, Indiana, the son of Clarence and Anna (Langbehn) Hamann. He served our country in the United States Army from 1954-1956. He was a graduate of Valparaiso University where he received his law degree. He married Martha J. Keim on April 9, 1960 in South Bend, IN. They moved to Overland Park in 1973. Robert loved the law. He had private practices in Kansas and Missouri. He was a long time member of Bethany Lutheran Church where he served in many capacities as well as a Sunday school teacher. Robert was chairman of the board at Lutheran High School and was very involved including past president of the American Heart Association. He later loved to write, especially letters to his family twice a week. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Martha, sons; Matthew K. Hamann (Lannie Thompson), Paul K. Hamann (Mindy), Christopher A. Hamann (Kristi), sister, Adele Carlson (Arthur) and grandsons, Griffin and Elliott Hamann. Visitation will be from 12:30- 2:00 PM Saturday, June 4th at Bethany Lutheran Church with funeral service following at 2 PM.
