Mr. Robert Liem

ROBERT CHARLES LIEM, 89, Overland Park, KS passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 20th at St. Luke's South Hospital in Overland Park.
Robert was born in Mankato, MN to Earl and Margaret Liem. A World War II Veteran, he was honorably discharged in November, 1945 from the United State Army. He graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Engineering. He worked his entire career with General Motors as an Engineer and retired in 1982.
Robert was married to his wife Violet on April 23, 1983. He was very active in the Cosmopolitan International organization until his health started to decline in 2009. While he will be remembered by those who knew and loved him for many things, he was the epitome of a patriarch, and took great pride in his family – enjoying every moment spent with them and welcoming everyone who married into the family as his own.
He is survived by his wife Violet; one sister Shirley Lawler of Florida; daughters Kathi Dell of Shawnee, KS, Sue Kervin (married to Gary Kervin) of Sebastian, FL and Susan Jacobs (married to Mark Jacobs) of Overland Park, KS; sons David Liem (married to Dagmar Liem) of Kearney, MO, John Liem of Kansas City, KS, Charles Liem (married to Cathy Liem) of Overland Park, KS, Tom Liem of Orian Township, MI and Bruce Siegal of Overland Park, KS. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Robert was a kind and generous man who will be missed by many.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. before the service hour. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Cosmopolitan International, 7341 W 80th Street, Shawnee Mission, KS 66204.
