Robert F. Marchesi, 75, of Mission Hills Kansas, will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his family and friends. He passed away Monday, February 2, 2015, in Dallas with family by his side.
Bob was born on May 18, 1939, in Amboy Illinois. He was preceded in death by his sister Carolyn Marchesi, and his parents August and Mary Marchesi. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Julie Marchesi, their son Timothy Marchesi (John Lawrence), daughter Christine Rudicile (Billy), and two devoted and beloved granddaughters, Kayla Rudicile and Caroline Rudicile.
Bob and Julie met at Quincy College where he received his bachelor's degree in business administration. He then earned his MBA with honors from Washington University in St. Louis. Bob began his investment career as a stock analyst with Harris Trust & Savings Bank in Chicago. They moved to Kansas City in 1969 with their two young children, where Bob joined Waddell & Reed, Inc., as a senior investment analyst, and later became vice president and director of portfolio, economic and technical research.
In 1974, Bob founded DeMarche Associates, with Sam DeKinder. Bob was an iconic mentor to many investment professionals, and a pioneer in the institutional investment consulting industry that flourished following the enactment of the Employment and Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (“ERISA”). Bob was sincerely proud of his colleagues and the firm’s clientele, as well as the contributions he and his colleagues have made to the industry and the greater Kansas City community. Bob also contributed to the investment community as a past president of the CFA Society Kansas City and past advisor of the Center for Research on Security Prices at the University of Chicago. He was also a member of the International Society of Financial Analysts and the CFA Institute.
Bob and Julie have been deeply grateful for all of their dear friends. They were past members of Homestead Country Club, and found the Lake of the Ozarks to be a special oasis for family and friends to gather. He enjoyed golf trips near and far. In 1994, Bob and Julie joined Milburn Country Club to get in all the golf he so loved.
Bob’s family, friends, and colleagues will miss his zest for life and his deep passion for the investment markets. Bob was also well known for his love of a good joke. He had a wry wit and a great sense of humor. He was also an avid reader and loved Westerns.
