Robert L. “Bob” Miller, age 81, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away peacefully at the Kansas City Hospice House on December 26, 2009 after a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s and a recent illness. He is survived by his wife, Jean; daughters, Babette (Rane) Miller and Dr. Kandace Miller; as well as, his two grandchildren, Alexandra and Jacob Bragg. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Kozette Kristen Barcus; his parents, Lawrence and Ella Miller; and his brothers Larry and Leorr.
Bob was born in Stevens Point, Wisconsin and attended the University of Wisconsin. Bob and Jean were married in Marshfield, Wisconsin in 1951. Bob’s career was spent in the tire business – the first 25 with Michelin and the latter 25 years running his own business. Bob has been an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church for over 47 years.
Bob will be remembered most as an engaging jokester who never met a stranger. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather that his grandkids call “papa.” They will remember him for his playfulness and kindness. He loved sports and was an avid fisherman, bowler, and golfer. His friends enjoyed his zest for life and laughter. Bob was an all around good guy. Bob was the salt of the earth.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Bethany Lutheran Church. We would like to thank Shawnee Mission Hospital and Kansas City Hospice for their tender care.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 16th at Bethany Lutheran Church, 9101 Lamar Avenue, Overland Park, KS 66207. Visitation will be from 10-11:00 A.M. at the church prior to the service.
