Bob Owsley, age 79, of Overland Park, KS, passed away peacefully at Lakeview Village, surrounded by family on Saturday, April 7th. Bob was born at home in Kansas City, KS on March 4th, 1933. He served in the United States Navy from 1950-1953. He was a firefighter for 34 years with Consolidated District #2, working at the station at 90th Terrace and Roe in Prairie Village his entire career. He retired with the rank of Captain. Bob volunteered for Cross-Lines Co-Op Council , an inner-city KCK ministry to the poor for over 20 years. He repaired homes, upgrading living standards for many inner -city residents. He was a member of Overland Park Christian Church. Bob was always serving others-as a firefighter, as a champion of the poor, as a husband, a father and beloved grandfather. He lived out his faith. He was an eternal optimist. He saw every person he met as one worthy of serving and loving. He also never missed a chance to crack a joke or tease a granddaughter. He was an avid golfer, gardener and outdoorsman. Bob could fix or build absolutely anything. After a long and difficult illness, he is at peace. The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Harriet Langley and the staff of Leawood Dialysis Center for 9 years of excellent and compassionate care, in particular Dan, Dad's favorite RN. We would also like to thank the staff at Lakeview Village for their tender care this past year. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 2 step-brothers, step-sister and daughter-in-law.
