Robert Rogers

Robert W. Rogers, 95, Fairway passed away November 9th, 2007 at the Kansas City Hospice House.

Bob was born July 21, 1912 in Schenectady, NY to Arthur and Caroline Rogers. He moved to Plainfield, N.J. in the 1920?s. He began working at age 14 as a stock boy for Union News Co. in New York City, eventually becoming Executive Vice President. Bob and Ethel met in 1931. They married on Sept. 1, 1934 in Plainfield, N.J. The family moved to Fairway in 1957. They joined Old Mission Methodist Church and were active in the Yankee Class. Bob went to work for Katz Drug Co. where he was Vice President of personnel and Treasurer for 14 years. He then became Vice President with First National Charter Corp., a holding company for First National Bank in Kansas City, MO. He was also President for Charter?s Insurance Co. In 1977 he celebrated his third retirement. Bob and Ethel enjoyed traveling. They made 30 trips to 81 countries and were among the first to Russia and China when they opened to tourists.

Bob is survived by his wife, Ethel Tench Rogers; daughter, Nancy L. Barnes and husband Edward; son, Philip T. Rogers and wife Sandra; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Monday, November 12, 2007 at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Memorial gifts may be made to the Rogers Music Scholarship funds at Baker University or The School of the Ozarks.
