Robert Slagle

November 15, 1931 — June 6, 2008

Robert L. Slagle, age 76, Overland Park, KS made his final journey on June 6, 2008 at the Timberlake Care Center after a long battle against prostate cancer.

Visitation with funeral services following will be 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., June 9, 2008 at Newcomer?s Chapel at 11200 Metcalf in Overland Park, Kansas. Burial will be Monday, in Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Fayette, Missouri. Pallbearers are Terry Roth, Rex Steelman, Donald Coburn, Robet Schmid, Sam Wilhjoit and Jim Rich. Honorary pallbearers are John Ballard, Robert Snoddy and Peter Babb. Service will be performed by Chaplain Susan Wilson.

Bob was born November 15, 1931 in Fayette, Missouri, son of Hurley and Anna Maude (Cloud) Slagle. He married Elizabeth Ann Keller on June 17, 1951 who predeceased him on March 2, 2006. He leaves behind his daughter Roberta A. (Bobbi) Slagle and his grand-dogs Max and Angel as well as a host of close family friends and former colleagues, all of whom will miss him greatly.

After serving as a supply sergeant in the Korean War, Bob and Ann moved to Kansas City from Fayette in July 1955 where he worked as an auditor at Arthur Andersen & Company. In 1957, Bob became an Internal Auditor and Budget Accountant at the Bendix Corporation. After leaving Bendix to work for a couple of years for the Interstate Securities, he returned to Bendix in 1961 as an Audit Supervisor. In 1967, Bob started at Reno Construction Company where he served as their Vice-President/Treasurer. After leaving Reno in 1979, Bob formed his own successful business as a financial consultant to many fine companies, among them Marvaco Construction (of Washington, DC), the Oasis Delis, Quality Dirt Works, Gaslight Real Estate and the Chartroose Caboose franchises, where his wife was the Assistant Manager for many years.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Jeffrey Holzerberlein and Dr. Peter VanVeldhuisen in addition to the wonderful, caring staffs at Timberlake Care Center and Freedom Pointe Assisted Living.
