Rocky McDaniel passed away at age 72 on Feb 18, 2019. He was born May 13, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of the late Orville and Frances McDaniel.
Rocky graduated from Wyandotte High School and was a veteran of the United States Army. He served in the Vietnam War. He did his basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO and was stationed at Fort Leavenworth, KS.
He was a General Contractor for around 50 years specializing in home remodeling, working for several companies in the Kansas City area where his job took him all around the United States. Rocky also had a love for cars dating back to his high school days, especially Corvettes. Rocky could easily talk a stranger’s ear off about any type of car. He loved to travel with his wife to the Southwest area of the United States on long road trips culminating in visits to Las Vegas.
Rocky is survived by his wife Barbara, daughter Charity Rubottom (Michael), step-son Cory Kramer, sister Theresa Blanton (Pete), sister-in-law Rose McDaniel, grandsons Zackary and Matthew Rubottom, longtime friend Bob Pierce, and many nieces and nephews and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother David McDaniel.
In lieu of flowers, the Family suggests contributions in memory of Rocky to your local pet shelter that takes care of cats, or Good Samaritan Hospice Center of Olathe, 20705 West 151st Street, Olathe, KS 66061.
