Rodrigo Parajon, age 95, passed away of natural causes and ascended to Heaven on October 16, 2012. Funeral Services will be held at 10 am Saturday, October 20, 2012 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Rodrigo was preceded in death by Maria Vargas Parajon, his first wife of 40 years. Survivors include his son Rod Jr., daughter Marty, and stepchildren Danny, Manny, and Claudia. He also leaves behind his current wife Claudia Curiel.
Mr. Parajon was appointed to his lifelong ambition of diplomatic service, when he became the Cuban General Counsel to the United States. Subsequently, due to the Cuban Revolution in 1959 he chose to leave behind his diplomatic career and started a new life with his family in the freedom of the United States, a country that he always praised, loved and admired. He then went on to a career with BMA where as a result of his hard work, education and dedication he went on to serve 35 years and rose to Assistant Vice President. After retiring at age 75, his life continued to revolve around friends and family.
Those that had the good fortune to know him were blessed to have known a family man of such a strong, sound character, that always lent a helping hand to those in need. He was a great man that will never be replaced.
The family requests donations in lieu of flowers to be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, PO BOX 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
