Mr. Roger Allen

Roger R. Allen, 90, of Overland Park, KS passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013. He was born June 23, 1922 in Rothville, MO; Roger grew up near Mendon, MO on the family farm. He attended Mendon High School where he graduated in 1940. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1942 and proudly served his country as an Aviation Machinist Mate during WWII. After he left the Navy he returned to the farm and eventually went into the trucking business. He had a long career as a truck driver, logging over 3 million miles. He loved boating, car racing, vacationing at Table Rock Lake and doing yard work. He was a proud member and was actively involved with the American Legion and the 40 & 8.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Lucinda Allen, his parents and his brother. Roger is survived by his son, Gregory (Jamie) Allen and two granddaughters Jennifer and Alexandra, and many friends and family. He will be deeply missed by all.

A funeral service will be held in Rogers honor on Saturday June 1, 2013 at 11AM at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS 66210 with a visitation one hour prior at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to be sent to the Alzheimer's Association 3846 W 75th St., Prairie Village, KS 66208.
