Joseph Arthur Roland Marcouillier
Roland Marcouillier, 86, died on Wednesday August 22, 2018, from heart failure.
He was born in Lowell, MA on February 24, 1932, to the late Arthur and Lydia (Charette) Marcouillier and attended local schools until the young age of 12, when he began working at the local quarry. He later went into the floor covering business, continuing his strong work ethic until his retirement.
Roland was a loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather and friend. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Fannie Marcouillier, of Overland Park, KS, and their son Joseph Marcouillier and wife Teresa, of Tonganoxie, KS; his daughter Patricia (Marcouillier) McCullum and husband John, of Overland Park, KS; his son David Marcouillier, of Lowell, MA; 8 grandchildren: Abby Marcouillier and Zacary Marcouillier of Tonganoxie, KS; John McCullum, Tricia (McCullum) Parker, Russell McCullum, and Diana (McCullum) Aragonez Roark, all of Overland Park, KS; David Marcouillier, and Britt Euler, of Lowell, MA; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Roland will be remembered by all for the spunk he demonstrated in his daily life. A hard worker for most of his life, he will be most remembered for his deep love for God and the United Church of God of which he was a member. He also showed a great love and devotion to his family and friends.
He was often very playful, enjoying his jokes and witty banter with everyone. He loved John Wayne movies, all animals, and baseball. Being from Massachusetts, he was a big fan of the Boston Red Sox, even getting to enjoy the games in person when they would come to town to play the Royals. He was passionate about eating healthy and organic, but loved his “natural” ice cream as well. He was a special man who will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will begin at 10am with services to follow at 11am at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave. A private family burial will follow in Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
