Ronald G. Marsh, 70, of Overland Park, KS, died September 8, 2013 at his home.
Ron was born November 2, 1942 in Boise, ID. The family moved to the Kansas City area in 1953. He attended Wyandotte High School; however, graduated from Omaha Tech in 1961. He earned his Bachelor's of Education from KU in 1965 and his Master's Degree in Education in 1974. He was an all around athlete from an early age, attending KU on a football scholarship, along with diving for KU. As a youth, Ron was a Golden Gloves Champion and after graduating from KU, he pursued a professional boxing career. He retired as a light heavyweight in 1970, with a record of 32 wins and 3 loses. His teaching career began in Minneapolis, MN and spanned 30 years, retiring from the DeSoto School District in 1995, after teaching there for 23 years.
Ron leaves his wife, Jackie. He also leaves two sisters, Ruth (Don) Shockey of Lenexa, and Sue Hall of Harrison, AR. He leaves, sister-in-law, Sandy Rosenblatt of Leawood, KS; brother-in-law, Dr. Lew Rosenblatt of Lee's Summit, MO; brother-in-law, Simon (Sandy) Garlich of Lee's Summit, MO. Ron also leaves his mother-in-law, Rose Garlich of Overland Park. He leaves several nieces and nephews, along with his many, many dear friends at the coffee club. He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.
Services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to a local animal shelter.
