Ronald J. Maupin, a beloved family man, man of faith and dedicated professional, passed away on January 11, 2024, in Overland Park, Kansas. Born on July 17, 1938, in Wyandotte, Oklahoma, Ron lived a fulfilling life filled with love, accomplishments, and cherished memories.
Ron's career was marked by success and passion. He worked for Hallmark from 1966 to 1977 before embarking on an entrepreneurial journey of his own. Ron started his Data Processing placement agency and made significant contributions to his field throughout his career.
While Ron excelled in his professional endeavors, he made sure to prioritize the things that truly mattered in life. He was a dedicated family man who always found time to be there for his loved ones. Ron's proudest accomplishments were not limited to his career; he won the basketball state championship in 1955 at Joplin High School in Joplin, Missouri. He went on to play college basketball at Pittsburg State University where he received a bachelor’s and master’s in mathematics.
One of Ron's great passions was playing golf. He had an unwavering love for the sport and never missed an opportunity to participate in events or support his children in their athletic endeavors.
In addition to his successful career and love for golf, Ron served in the United States Army as a Captain of the Quartermaster Corps. His military service demonstrated his sense of duty and commitment to serving his country.
He was a member for over 50 years at Hillcrest Christian Church where he taught adult Sunday school for 40 of those years and was a chairman of the board and served as an elder emeritus.
Ron's warm personality and deep faith brought comfort and joy to those around him. He was a pillar of strength for both his immediate and extended family. Ron cherished every moment spent with his loving wife Sue Maupin, their sons Scott Maupin (Karen), Gregg Maupin (Nea), and Barry Maupin.
Ron's legacy thrives through the lives of his grandchildren Luke Vinze (Karen), Steven Maupin (Jayme), Becca Hurst (Guy), Juliana Maupin, Vincent Maupin, as well as his great-grandchildren Leo, Matteo, James, Eleanor, and Sophie.
Ron J. Maupin was preceded in death by his parents Caleb Manley Maupin and Zelma Ida (Hamby) Maupin, and his brother Richard Maupin. Their love and support were instrumental in shaping Ron into the remarkable individual he became.
A Funeral Service to honor Ron's life will take place on January 20, 2024, at Hillcrest Christian Church in Overland Park, Kansas. The service will begin at 12:00 PM, with a burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, Kansas. The burial ceremony is scheduled for 1:30 PM.
