Ronald Ransom

March 9, 1945 — June 16, 2008

March 9, 1945 ? June 16, 2008 Ron died unexpectedly the morning of June16, 2008. He was born in Falls City, Neb., to Melvin Harold and Jean (Henegar) Ransom. Ron spent most of his life in Wyandotte and Johnson Counties. He was a graduate of Washington High School, KCKCC, and attended Pittsburg State University and Emporia State University. Ron married Elaine (Zellers) on June 8th and recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Ron was the owner of Ransom Associates, a manufacturer representative company, started by his father and is succeeded by his son, Clay. Ron had a zest for life that was rivaled by few. His passions in life were his family, friends, cars, history, football, music, and travel, and was a collector of some of those things he loved. Ron had a photographic memory and had great fun as the go-to person for the answer to anyone's question, and was a frequent Jeopardy champion. He loved history, especially the Civil War, traveled and collected artifacts to "get the feel" of the war. He loved cars and was proud to say he owned 69 cars and was looking forward to owning the 70th. Ron was a friend to many people and worked at keeping up relationships, many through planning high school reunions. His love of football and friends led him to be an active supporter of Pitt State football and the KC Gorilla Club, as a member of the Board. Most important to Ron was his family, especially his two grandchildren, to whom grandpa was special. Ron was a 13th generation Ransom and left that legacy for his son and grandchildren by creating an extensive family history of the Ransom family. Ron is survived by his wife, Elaine; son, Clay (Kelly); grandchildren, Clayton and Dean; sister, Debbie Anderson (Wayne), and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation Thursday, June 19, 12 to 1 p.m. with service following at the D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210.
