Rosalie McDonald Hughes, 84, of Merriam, KS passed away Sunday, September 2, 2007 in Grove, Oklahoma.
Rosalie was born in Argentine, KS and graduated from Argentine High School. She was a WWII Riveter at the Fairfax B-25 Bomber Plant ? A "Proud Rosie The Riveter." Rosalie never knew a stranger. She was a legacy of Patriotism serving as president of the NEJRW; member of the St. Andrew Society, Clan Donald, Beta Sigma Phi, Daughters of the Confederacy and served 25 years as a DAR Representative for the Naturalization of Citizens. Her love for her family and friends kept her spirited. She loved animals and was a generous contributor to the humane society.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Gerald B. Hughes. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Gary & Sue Hughes of Kansas City, Kansas; daughter and son-in-law, Karen & Dennis Kidwell of Merriam, Kansas; Grandsons, Russ & Andrew Kidwell; daughter, Laurie Hughes of Grove, Oklahoma. Rosalie was a member of Shawnee Presbyterian Church. She will be sadly missed by all.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 6, 2007 at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Overland Park, KS. 66210. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 5 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the chapel.
