Rose Barbara Garlich, 102, of Overland Park, KS passed away October 14, 2016. She was born March 31, 1914 in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of Louis and Louise (Sudac) Grace. Her parents emigrated from Zagreb, Croatia and settled in the Croatian community of Strawberry Hill where she grew up.
Rose worked in 1941 during WW II wiring airplane bombers in Fairfax. Family was everything to her, as she loved being a homemaker, raising her children and later in life watching over her grand-children and great –grandchildren, the lights of her life. Rose also helped Simon and Jackie at their grocery store, Terrace Lake Thriftway for 20 years. She was a warm, loving, feisty and remarkable woman who will be greatly missed by those who knew her. A great life well lived, Rose will remain in our hearts forever.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Louis Garlich. Rose was also preceded in death by her brothers John and Joe Grace, sister’s Ann Dial, Mary Spehar, Louise Swirk, Norma Schlicht and son-in-law Ronnie Marsh. Surviving are her children, Jackie Marsh, Overland Park, KS, her twin children, Sandy Rosenblatt, Leawood, KS, Simon Garlich, Lee’s Summit, MO, grand-daughter, Dr. Jennifer Rosenblatt and her children Isabelle, Ryan and Henry Parisi of Leawood, KS, and grand-son, Jeff Rosenblatt and children, Elle, Demi and Atticus Rosenblatt of Brookeside.
The family will have private family services and suggest contributions to your favorite charity.
