Rose "Rosalie" Jackson of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Monday, March 19th at the age of 75. Rose was a long time member of Bethany Lutheran Church and active in Stephens Ministry . Rose was born in 1936 in Liberty County and raised in Dayton, Texas. She was a saxophonist in the Dayton High School and rodeo bands where she won numerous awards. She was a graduate of Sam Houston State University in Hunstville. For forty years, Rose was a resident of Houston where she raised her three daughters. She retired from the Houston Independent School District where she taught Office Education and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. Rose was an avid gardener, an accomplished pianist and a loving grandmother.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Rosalie Dlouhy. She is survived by her children Pamela and husband Robert White of Prairie Village, Kansas, Terry Jackson of Leawood, Kansas, and Diane and husband David Holland of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren, Sam, Sarah and Abby White; sister Delores and husband Bill Perry of The Woodlands, Texas; nephew Mark Perry of Austin, Texas; and aunt Martha and uncle Bill Thomas of Red Wing, Minnesota.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Overland Park Chapel at 8201 Metcalf on Thursday, March 22nd. The funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, March 23rd at the Bethany Lutheran Church at 91st and Lamar, Overland Park, Kansas. Interment at D.W. Newcomer's Sons, 11200 Metcalf, following service. Contributions may be made in honor of Rose to Bethany Lutheran Church.
