Ruby Moreland

Ruby K. Moreland, 91, of Overland Park, passed away peacefully on Monday April 11, 2016 surrounded by her family. Ruby is survived by her three children, Julie (Jim) Wilkinson of Lenexa, Susan (Jim) Lopez of Leawood, and Mark Moreland of Overland Park; grandson, Tyler (Ginger) Brown; and three-great grandchildren, along with other extended family. She was preceded in death by her dearly loved husband of over 53 years, Donald C. Moreland.
Ruby was known for her generosity, kind heart, and caring nature. Her home was always open to family and friends, and she loved nothing more than setting a few more dinner plates for unexpected guests. She held especially fond memories playing bridge, bowling, and neighborhood parties with her Cherry Hill friends.
There will be a graveside service on Friday April 15 at 2pm at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS, followed by a celebration of her life at the home of Jim and Susan Lopez.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org, or to St. Luke’s Hospice, 3516 Summit St, Kansas City, MO 64111.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers and staff and the Fontana Care Haven Home for their gentle and loving care of our mom for the past 6 years.
