Mr. Russ Maloney
March 2, 1941 — January 9, 2007
Russ Maloney, "Pappy," 65, of Overland Park, Kan., passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2007, after a long and courageous battle with a rare illness.
He was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., and moved to Kansas in 1975. He is the son of Russell T. Maloney, deceased, and Dorothy Maloney of Pittsburgh, Pa. He is survived by his two sisters, Sandra Joan Sams and Susan Rump, also of Pittsburgh, where many loving nieces and nephews also reside. He is also survived by Janet, his wife of 46 years, and his two sons and "buddies", Russell J. Maloney and his wife Jill, and Matthew C. Maloney and his wife Stacy, as well as six grandchildren who were the light of his life- Katie Maloney, Rusty Maloney, Morgan Maloney, Madeline Maloney, Tyler Stevens and Ashlee Stevens.
Russ had a tremendous passion for everything he undertook during his career and had great success as a salesman for several large corporations as well as founding several companies of his own. Russ was a friend to all and made many lifelong friends through his business and personal contacts throughout the U.S. The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses and employees of The University of Kansas Hospital for their effort and kindness throughout his long illness.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 11, from 6-8 p.m. at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kan. Service will be held at First Family Church, 7700 W. 143rd St., Overland Park, Kan., at 11 a.m. Friday, January 12. Interment will be at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf in Overland Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, MO 64114.
