Ruth Evelyn Cantrell, 91, moved on to her heavenly residence on Friday, Oct 30, 2020. She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Terrill (Lynn) of Richmond, VA, and son, Kevin Cantrell, of Overland Park, KS. She has two grandchildren, Jonathan Terrill (Caraleigh) and Jessica Holcomb (Joshua), two great grandchildren (Mariah and Micah Holcomb), and another greatgrandson due in December. Ruth was born and raised in Neosho, Missouri, by her parents, Gillum and Hazel Dobson. She was a longtime member of Northside Baptist Church in Neosho, where she taught children in Sunday School, GAs, and VBS, where she was active in Woman’s Missionary Union, and where she sang in the choir for many years. She moved to the Kansas City area in 1987 and became an active member of the Nall Avenue Baptist Church until her health prohibited her from attending any longer. She was a creative, self-taught artist who loved painting, sewing, taking special care of her beloved flower garden, and decorating her home “to the Nines!” She was an avid Kansas City Royals fan and kept up-to-date on their families and their career stats. However, her greatest joy by far was being a mother, a mother-in-law, and a grandmother! She spent her life making sure “all the kids” were lavishly loved and well-cared for.
