Ruth E. Holthouse, 93, passed away December 10, 2013 at her home in Lenexa. A private family graveside service will be held at the Lenexa City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Omega Healthcare, 7398 W. 162nd Ter., Stilwell, Kansas 66085.
Ruth was born August 11, 1920. She was married to Harry H. Holthouse for 63 years before his passing in 2003. She was born in Olathe and a lifelong resident of Lenexa, Kansas. She worked at Sears for over 20 years before her retirement. Ruth loved her garden and flowers. People would often drive by her house to admire her garden, especially her roses. Ruth spent many years camping with her family and enjoying the outdoors.
Mrs. Holthouse was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, her husband, one brother and her son-in-law. Survivors include her daughter Carolyn Shields and her husband Chris, daughter Nancy De Wit, son Bill Holthouse and his wife Sandy; 5 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
