Ruth Hough Reed, 81, of Leawood, Kansas, passed away Thursday, August 9th, 2007.
Ruth was born January 24th, 1926 in Abilene, Kansas. She graduated from Abilene High School, and also from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Kansas City, MO. She worked as a RN at St. Joseph Hospital, followed by a career as an industrial nurse at Armco Steel, until her retirement in 1988.
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Ruth Hough, and her husband of 56 years, John. She is survived by her sister, Frances Spencer; brother, Reverend Roger Hough; daughters, Pat Green (Dennis), Mary Gaston, Nancy Simons (Dan); sons, John (Robin), Jim, Joe (Joyce), David (Carmen); 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was known as a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, a dedicated nurse, and a dear friend to all.
Funeral Mass will be held at Christ the King Church, 8510 Wornall Road, Kansas City, MO, on Monday, August 13th at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be at D. W. Newcomer?s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. where a rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Bishop Sullivan Center or Christ the King Church.
