Ruthanna Kenney, 85, Overland Park, passed away June 1, 2009. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, June 6, 2009 at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Comfort Care Homes of KC, 5250 W. 94th Ter., Shawnee Mission, KS 66207 or Good Shepherd Hospice, 7611 State Line, Kansas City, MO 64114.
Ruthanna was born July 9, 1923 in Atchison, Kansas to Samuel Elmer Riley and Lorena Sandifer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Kenney, Jr.; and a son, Mark.
Left to cherish her memory is daughter, Janet (Roger) Chalk of Shawnee, Kansas; daughter, Jeanne (Greg) Powers of Portland, OR; sister, Dorothy Costello of West Bloomfield, MI; sisters-in-law, Edith Riley of Shawnee, KS, Betty Riley of Kansas City, KS; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
