Ryan House

Ryan James House, 33, of Lawrence, Kansas, was born on April 19, 1989, in Wichita, Kansas.  Our family learned of Ryan’s death on July 29, 2022.  He was preceded in death by his mother Nancy Gray House who passed in 2015, and adoring grandparents Stan and Julia House.  He is survived by his father Robert House (Susan) and brothers Tyler (Sydney) and Bryant (Olivia) residing in the greater Kansas City area.

Ryan played football for 2 years for the Olathe South Falcons followed by 4 years of football as a Mid-America Nazarene Pioneer where he was a 4-year letter winner.  He earned a bachelor’s degree in graphic design and worked in the graphic design field for several years and in various jobs thereafter.

Ryan affirmed his faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized in 2019 while attending Story Hill Church in Lawrence, Kansas.

Ryan was a deeply thoughtful, kind, and gentle soul.  He loved his family and enjoyed game nights, holidays, long discussions over breakfast, quiet moments around the bonfire, and peaceful days of fishing.  He read books on a wide scale of subjects and never shied away from in-depth conversations about the world, music, culture, food, work, and God.  He was quiet and observant, a gifted and creative writer and artist.  He possessed a piercingly quick wit and wisdom beyond his years.  Ryan lived with depression for much of his life and ultimately succumbed to it.  He knew he was deeply loved.  He will be profoundly missed.

We are eternally grateful for the teachers, coaches, ministry leaders, friends and family who invested in Ryan’s life.  A casual come-and-go memorial reception will be held on Saturday, August 13, from 2:30 to 5:00pm at Blue Valley Baptist Church, 8925 W. 151st Street, Overland Park, Kansas 66221.  There will be a private interment at Johnson County Funeral Chapel and Memorial Gardens in Overland Park.
