Sabina Rivera Smith, 44, Kansas City, Kansas passed away February 12, 2011. A funeral service will be held at 5:00 P.M. Saturday, February 19, 2011 with a visitation to follow until 7:00 P.M. at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kansas 66210. Interment will take place in Mexico. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family, which will go towards an education fund for her infant son, Jayce Alexander.
Sabina was born August 29, 1966 in Melchor Ocampo, Mexico. She was employed with Kerry Ingredients in New Century for the past four years. Sabina married Darrell Smith on January 31, 2011 and Jayce was born February 7, 2011. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, and friend who never knew a stranger. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Sabina was a beautiful woman and full of life, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Sabina was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Rivera Espinoza.
Survivors include her husband, Darrell Smith and their son, Jayce, both of the home; son, Obed Ulises Barrera Rivera; daughter, Frida Valeria Barrera Rivera, both of Mexico; sister, Eulalia Rivera-Suarez; brother, Manuel Rivera-Suarez, both of Kansas City, Kansas; mother, Guillermina Suarez-Alvarado; sisters, Margarita Rivera-Suarez, Elizabeth Rivera-Suarez, Maria Barbara Rivera-Suarez, and Enedina Rivera-Suarez; brother, Daniel Rivera-Suarez, also all of Mexico; stepsons, Joshua, Jared, and Jaden Smith of Independence, MO and Justin Smith of Sedalia, MO; stepdaughter, Jaylee Smith of Slater, MO; three step grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
