Sally Simpson Swindler, 83, transitioned peacefully into eternity on October 12, 2022, in Chandler, Arizona.
Sally was born in Wabash, Indiana on May 25, 1939, the daughter of James Edward (Ted) and Margaret Simpson. Her older brother, Mike, was her hero growing up.
She graduated from Burris High School and Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, with a Masters degree in education.
Sally was married to Patrick (Cork) Rhodes from 1961-1967, and she was married to Stephen (Steve) Swindler from 1971-1981. They moved to Overland Park, Kansas in 1978, and she lived there for 40 years. In 2017, she moved to Chandler, Arizona to live near her daughter, Lori.
She loved music, and could play the piano by ear. She also loved teaching children, like her mother before her. She started in elementary education and eventually became certified to teach emotionally disturbed boys at the Gillis Center in Kansas City, Missouri, where she taught until she retired.
She will be remembered for her faith and unfailing love for Jesus. She was an active member of her church, and the only thing that could match her love for her family was the love of Christ. In her later years she worked on political campaigns for local candidates she strongly believed in.
Sally is survived by 2 children; Lori (Cliff) Rosenberg of San Tan Valley, Arizona, and Scott (Michelle) Swindler of Olathe, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her brother Michael (Mike) Simpson in 2017.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at Johnson County Memorial Gardens in Overland Park, Kansas on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 11:00 AM, with visitation one hour before.
