Samuel B. Elam, born on January 10, 1995 left unexpectedly on November 8, 2021. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri and grew up in Overland Park, Kansas. He graduated from Blue Valley High School in 2013. He attended the culinary schools at Broadmoor Technical Institute and at Johnson County Community College. He loved working as a pastry chef and cook.
Sam enjoyed experimenting with new dishes because he loved being able to see other people enjoy what he created. He will be remembered as a very loving, loyal and, kind person. He had the best, most memorable laugh and a huge heart. He enjoyed driving with loud music playing. He also had fun playing board games and he liked being outdoors. He was fun and brave. His friends could count on him to be the first one to jump in the water to see how cold it was. He was always ready for any challenge.
He knew how to make people feel welcomed and comfortable. He took delight in always making sure they had what they needed. A person couldn’t be anything but happy when they were with Sam.
Sam was preceded in death by his father, Carlton Britt Elam; his mother, Jane Anne (Kreuzberger) Elam; grandparents: James and Doris Kreuzberger; and John and Jean Elam. He will be dearly missed by his twin brother, Luke Elam; many other family members and friends and especially his 4- legged companion, Raider.
A visitation will be held from 12-1:30pm on Saturday November 13th at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave. A service to celebrate Sam’s life will follow at 1:30pm.
In memory of Sam, memorial contributions in his name may be made to Valley Hope Foundation, 1816 N 2nd Street, Atchison, KS 66002 in lieu of flowers.
