Samuel C. Thomas, 95, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013, at Brookdale Place.
Sam was born November 18, 1918, in Kansas City, MO, to Oscar William and Pauline Thomas. He graduated from Paseo High School and attended UMKC. Sam worked in the family business as the Executive Vice President of ABC Fireproof Warehouse Company. He was a longtime, active member of the Cross Points Church. Sam was a light in this dark world because he had Jesus in his heart. Sam and Marilyn's home was a lighthouse for Jesus.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Terree Lynn Gomer; parents; and three siblings, O.W. Thomas, Jr., Peggy Lusk and Janet Robinson.
Sam is survived by his loving wife of over 62 years, Marilyn Thomas; two children Tamra (Brian) Bruton and Timarie (Geoff) Rhines; nine grandchildren; six great granddaughters; brother, Donald (Debbie) Thomas; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2013, at Cross Points Church, 6824 Lackman Road, Shawnee, KS 66217. Interment will follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2013, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons – Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210.
