Samuel Charles Trager
Oct. 15, 1920- Sept. 16, 2007 Sam passed away September 16, 2007 at his home in Stockton, Calif., where he was surrounded by his caring family.
He was born in Overland Park, Kan., and married Lucille Kreeger in 1942. His early occupations included dairyman and banker. He also served in the U.S. Merchant Marines for five years and graduated from the Merchant Marine Academy as a licensed engineer. He worked for AIRCO Industrial Gases for over 25 years and retired as a corporate executive. Sam was an active member of Twin Oaks Community Church, National Association of Power Engineers and Port of Stockton Chapter of the U.S. Merchant Marine Veterans. He also served as Chairman of the School Board in Holiday, Kan., on various church boards and most recently, chaired the O'Connor Woods Employee Christmas Fund. Sam resided in Tracy, Calif., Yuma, Ariz., and San Diego, Calif., before moving to O'Connor Woods in Stockton, Calif., where he freely shared his bountiful garden with family and friends. He was also known for his competitive card playing.
He is survived by his wife Lucille, his bride of over 65 years. His three daughters and their husbands: Sandra and Jim Aberer Jr. of Diablo, Pat Seaman and Rod Kilcoyne of Pleasant Hill, and Rose and Manny Martinez, of Morgan Hill all currently reside in California. He enjoyed each of his grandchildren: Jim Aberer, Laura McClure, Sarah Logan, Ember Trager, Shanon Jones, Joce Trager and Todd Martinez. His eight greatgrandchildren include Madison, Morgan and Drew Aberer; Anna Logan; Kate, Elyse, and Audrey McClure; and Kaylynn Warren. In 1981 he was predeceased by his son, Samuel Charles Trager, Jr.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2007, at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kan. The memorial service is planned at the O'Connor Woods Chapel, 3400 Wagner Heights Road, Stockton, Calif., on Saturday, October 13, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. The family requests a donation to your favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
