Seung Soon Park passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 1, 2015 in Overland Park, KS surrounded by his family. He was 80 years old. Seung was born in the province of Jeollanam-do in the southwest of South Korea in Goheung county, born to Ki-hong Park and Su-rang Kim; he was one of 5 sons and 2 daughters. He graduated and earned his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the Seoul National University in March of 1960. He was a brilliant man and already working as a coal engineer he also received full 3-year scholarship to complete engineering graduate studies in Germany. He and his loving wife, Jeung-sook, married on November 24, 1972. They were married for 42 years. He was diligent in his career, working several years in various mining engineering developments in the Philippines. In a momentous change of his life, he left his home country in September of 1988, when he and his wife along with two children moved to the United States of America. Since then Overland Park, Kansas was his home for more than 25 years.
He is survived by his wife, Jeung-sook Park; son, Joon Park and his wife Susan Park; daughter, Jee-hyon Park and her husband John Moon as well as four grandchildren, Elizabeth and Andrew Park, Joshua and Matthew Moon. He was much loved and will be greatly missed.
