Shane Robert Trentman was born in Garden City, KS on August 26, 1968 to Lewis and Rebecca Trentman, joining his older brother, Kent Trentman. His early years were spent in Sublette Kansas, where he graduated from both grade school and high school. During his high school career, he excelled in sports, still holding the high school record for long jump. He also particularly enjoyed playing and watching football. His passion for football continued all of his life as he cheered on his favorite KC Chiefs and K-State Wildcats.
Shane attended Dodge City Junior College, then went on to Kansas State University. His college bachelor's degree and later his master's degree in Psychology was completed at Fort Hays State University.
Following completion of his clinical psychology degree, he and his daughter Carley, moved to Dodge City, Kansas where he worked for Boys Ranch, a residential youth treatment center.
Later, he moved to Garden City, Kansas where he worked for Southwest Developmental Services for several years. Shane then moved on to become the Education Psychologist for the Garden City School District. He enjoyed working with the many students and teachers and school counselors for fifteen years. He especially enjoyed being a mentor during his last two years working as a psychologist.
Shane met the love of his life, Rhona, during a visit to the Satanta District Hospital. They quickly fell in love and were married in Garden City, Kansas in 2011. They made their home in Garden City, moving to Southwind following the birth of their son, Sean Lewis Trentman . He joined Jillian Artus, Rhona's young daughter, to complete their family. They enjoyed many family trips and holidays before Shane was diagnosed with cancer in 2019 and a move to Kansas City was necessary for medical treatment.
However, upon moving to Kansas City, Shane often said he should have made the move years ago and enjoyed many of Kansas City's amenities including BBQ, casinos, exploring Costco and of course, football.
Despite being diagnosed with stage IV cancer in April 2019, Shane remained relentless in his tough, stubborn spirit throughout treatment and worked hard to enjoy life to the fullest. He proudly completed his bucket list including making it to the Arrowhead Stadium, witnessing a Superbowl, finishing giant lego projects with his son, and even playing poker with a celebrity. After a wonderful life of 52 years, Shane passed away peacefully in his home on December 7th, 2020 surrounded by his loved ones.
Survivors include Rhona Trentman, Jillian and Sean of the home and Carley Trentman of New York City. He is greatly missed by his brother, Kent Trentman, wife Sally and nephews, Hal and wife, Lindsey, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Connor, and Will Trentman of Pawhuska, Oklahoma. He leaves his parents, Lewis and Rebecca Trentman, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and a host of much-loved uncles and aunts, cousins, and many friends.
