Shari Zimmerman

Shari Lynn Zimmerman passed away on December 9, 2013 at Sweet Life at Brookdale Place in Overland Park Kansas. She was born January 7, 1948 in St Paul, Minnesota the daughter of Theodore and Adelyne Hunziker.
Shari was diagnosed with early onset Alzeimers disease in 2001 and handled it with a deep faith and inner strength that set an example for her entire family. She was a hero to her family in so many ways showing her courage in dealing with this disease.
Shari was a member of Hope Lutheran. Shari's greatest achievement was raising two fine young men as a single mother.
Shari started her career in the insurance and related industries when she joined Connecticut Mutual in St Paul, Minnesota. She later transferred in early 1970's to Kansas City, Missouri and joined the Roger C. Boeger Agency of Connecticut Mutual. In 1977 she changed employment to National Fidelity Life Insurance Company in their Agency Services Department, and assisted in proposals and other sales related activities with Brokerage General Agencies around the U.S. In 1982 she joined Target Insurance Services Inc., a general agency operated by the McAvoy family, and in 1986 joined the Gomberg Agency of Pittsburg, PA.
In the summer of 1988 she returned to the Kansas city area, and joined the Centennial Life home Office in Merriam ,KS. In 1994 Shari became an account executive with Insurance Publication Inc. publisher of "Broker World" Magazine. She was an employee there until her early retirement due to disability in May, 2001 Because of these progressive moves and advancements Shari was know to insurance general agents and brokers throughout the country.
Shari was preceded in death by her parents Theodore and Adelyne Hunziker and her husband Lee Zimmerman and great nephew Elliott Nicholls.
She is survived by her sons Jason Arnold and Robert(Melissa) Arnold, one grand daughter Alexandria Arnold; her siblings Chuck Hunziker(Chris) of Florida, Jeff Hunziker (Patty) of Iowa and Michele Maanum (Mike Melichar) of Indiana and many nieces and nephews that love her dearly .
Visitation will be at 10 AM on Friday, December 13, 2013 at Hope Lutheran Church, 6308 Quivira Road, Shawnee, Kansas 66216. Service will follow at 11 AM on Friday, December 13, 2013 at the church.
