Sharon Elizabeth Petrie, 52, Overland Park, Kansas passed away 1 January, 2011. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, 6 January, 2011 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210. A visitation will begin an hour prior to the service, also in the chapel. Interment will take place in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Sharon was born to Delbert and Rose Davis Forrest, 3 September, 1958 at oring AFB, Limestone, Aroostock, Maine. She traveled in youth to Turkey and Philippines. In 1976, she graduated from John Jay High School in San Antonio, TX. On 28 July, 1979, Sharon married William Steven Petrie in San Antonio, TX. Sharon was a wonderful woman of faith. In 1972, she accepted Jesus as her Savior. Sharon and Steve homeschooled their 4 children and showed them their faith daily. Sharon loved her husband and celebrated 31 years of marriage with him. On 16 December, 2010, Sharon graduated from KU with 2 BA's in History and Public Administration. She was part of Phi Alpha Theta and Phi Beta Kappa. She was also a member of Faith Bible Church in Grandview, MO.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Louis Alvin Forrest, Irma Harriet Lawson, Rillar Farlandi Davis, and Mary Elizabeth Eddings.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Wm Steven Petrie; children, Grace Nicole Petrie, Wm Matthew Petrie, Mary Elizabeth Petrie, and Donald Michael Petrie; parents, Delbert M. & Rose Forrest; sister and brother-in-law, Ken & Sheila Wagner and their 3 children; and many loving cousins and extended family.
