Sherrie Lynn Dotson-True, born January 30th ,1956, Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully in her home in Grandview, Missouri, July 21st 2016.
Sherrie was always an outstanding student and educated at Martinsen Elementary, Allison Jr. High, and West High School in Wichita, Kansas.  She received an Associate of Arts Degree from Butler County Community College in Eldorado, Kansas, where she was inducted into Order of the Purple for her outstanding academic performance.  She continued her education at Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, Mississippi, earning a Bachelor of Science Summa Cum Laude in Family and Human Development being recognized by the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.
Sherrie’s working career outside of being a full time mother and wife was spent in careers helping others less fortunate than herself.  She worked with juveniles in detention, people with addictions working towards rehabilitation, working for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services being an advocate for children.  One of her proudest moments was to have the opportunity to establish a pilot program for Oklahoma State University Extension called the “Healthy Families Program” where she was able to teach young parents how to take care of themselves and their children.
In more recent years, Sherrie had helped establish, manage, and work in two local “Christmas” stores: Holiday Magic and 3 French Hens.  These stores aligned with her extreme belief in giving to others.  Sherrie’s ability to design and decorate earned her recognition with two local publications featuring her decorating skills on the covers of KC Home and Gardens and Spaces magazines.
Sherrie also returned to her art in her last years.  Teaching others to paint, painting custom pet portraits in her impressionistic style, and other multi-media works.  “Broken for Him” in tryptic oil and glass mosaic on canvas, was the most inspired of her works.  Sherrie shared her art with many people over the years to build relationships and connections with people.  She never met a stranger and was always curious to know more about the people she was with.
Sherrie was united in Holy matrimony to her high school sweetheart 42 years ago on April 6th ,1974, Mark Alan True.  They have three children, Elizabeth, Rachel, and Matthew.  Sherrie was a devoted and loving wife and mother for her majority of her life and her family was the most central to her existence.
